This week a lot of people have been sharing their LinkedIn “year that was”. Most are celebrating the stats. I’m not.
Apparently, I’m in the top 5% of LinkedIn users. Apparently?
Bollocks!
This year I posted 356 times. Those posts received 530 comments. That’s less than 1.5 comments per post.
They also received 1,599 reactions. That’s under 4.5 reactions per post. I’m not disputing the numbers. But if that puts someone in the top 5%, it tells me something else entirely.
A lot of people here aren’t here to connect. They’re here to be seen.
Have a look at your own connections. Go on. Notice how many actually engage with what you share. Then notice how many go beyond a like and leave a comment.
For clarity, I’m here for the connection, not the connections. I value comments, not because they game the algorithm, but because they start conversations.
I’m fine with someone adding a different perspective. I’m fine with disagreement. What I’m not here for is people jumping in just to blow smoke up my butt.
Connection beats visibility….. Every time.
