Not everything needs a label, especially you.
There’s a new word doing the rounds: “otrovert.” It’s meant to describe people who sit somewhere between introvert and extrovert; those who adapt depending on the situation.
Interesting idea, for sure. The moment we label ourselves, others start managing us through that label. We get boxed in by shorthand instead of seen in full.
You say introvert, they stop asking for your input.
You say extrovert, they assume you’ll always take the lead.
You say otrovert, they still decide where you fit.
We’re complex. Context matters. Energy shifts. Growth happens. Diversity of Thought thrives on the whole person, not the edited version that fits a word.
When we reduce ourselves (or others) to a single word, we stop seeing the whole person.
Before adopting the next personality label, maybe ask instead: Am I describing myself, or giving others permission to box me in?
